Our Founder

Aric is the founder of the Baserria Institute. He has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and community organizer, currently as the Head of Secondary at the British School of Navarra in Pamplona/Iruña, which is either part of the Basque Country or not. (depending on who you ask.)

Before launching the Institute and getting back into brick and mortar education, Aric was Head of Schools and Programs for School Year Abroad (SYA), a year-long study abroad program for high school students in Spain, France, Italy and China. He specializes in experiential and immersion education and has worked with students and faculty on five different continents. 

Aric has an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Journalism and a PhD in Sociology and Public Policy from the University of Zaragoza in Spain. His research centered around building Intercultural Competence and creative thinking skills through cultural immersion.
